Gmail File System

I have known about software that allows you to turn a gmail account into a file server for quite some time, but never got around to trying it out…until tonight that is.

I decided to try setting it up, expecting it to be complex with big cumbersome drivers. Turns out the software is 150kb (http://www.viksoe.dk/code/gmail.htm).

1 gmail email = 6.5gig disk which you can drag/drop files to and access from anywhere that has internet and would allow you to install the driver. Handy! Very Handy!

I can see many applications.

I wouldn’t try to use an email which you use for email, as one could corrupt the “file system” and it probably wouldn’t look pretty with tons of email holding files either, so I suggest creating a gmail exclusively for holding your files.
